Chris Lynch is a partner of the Technology investment team at Atlas Venture.Previously, Chris was CEO of Vertica Systems, where he led the company from late-stage startup to the number one ranked Big Data company in the market and its acquisition by HP in March of 2011.  Before that he was an executive at four successful early-stage startups that were acquired by public companies.Chris is an advisor to many Boston-area startups and is a mentor to many of the region’s entrepreneurs.  He is currently on the Board of Hack/Reduce, a newly formed non-profit community space for developers in Cambridge; Chairman of Hadapt, a developer of Cloud-based adaptive analytical platform; and on the Board of Azuki Systems.Chris earned his MBA from the McCallum Graduate School of Business at Bentley University and his bachelor’s degree in business management from Suffolk University.  He received an honorary doctor of commercial science degree from Bentley University.

Steve Papa is an active investor, board member and mentor sponsoring the creation of a wide variety of tech companies.


He founded the enterprise software company Endeca in 1999 and was its CEO until it was Oracle's 6th largest acquisition ever on announcement in 2011. Endeca pioneered Guided Navigation, one of the leading search innovations of the decade, and made it an industry standard online. Endeca's solutions today play a key role in the online commerce, enterprise business intelligence and national security markets. Prior to its acquisition, Endeca had achieved $750M in cumulative worldwide revenue and 700 customers, and had built an exceptionally talented team of over 500 headquartered in Cambridge, MA. Under his leadership, Endeca was named the fastest growing private company in Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal and recognized as one of the winners of the E&Y EOY awards program.


Prior to Endeca, Steve was part of the original team creating Akamai, a member of the early team at Inktomi in charge of creating the company’s infrastructure caching business, and spent time at Teradata and also at Venrock, the Rockefeller Family's venture capital arm. Steve holds an MBA from Harvard and a BS in Operations Research and Economics from Princeton University. He is also active as an advisory board member for the Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship at Harvard.

Samuel Madden is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. His research interests include databases, distributed computing, and networking. Research projects include the C-Store column-oriented database system, the CarTel mobile sensor network system, and the Relational Cloud "database-as-a-service". Madden is a leader in the emerging field of "Big Data", heading the Intel Science and Technology Center (ISTC) for Big Data, a multi-university collaboration on developing new tools for processing massive quantities of data. He also leads BigData@CSAIL, an industry-backed initiative to unite researchers at MIT and leaders from industry to investigate the issues related to systems and algorithms for data that is high rate, massive, or very complex.Madden received his Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 2003 where he worked on the TinyDB system for data collection from sensor networks. Madden was named one of Technology Review's Top 35 Under 35 in 2005, and is the recipient of several awards, including an NSF CAREER Award in 2004, a Sloan Foundation Fellowship in 2007, best paper awards in VLDB 2004 and 2007, and a best paper award in MobiCom 2006.

James Psota, Co-founder / CTO at Panjiva

  

James is a veteran entrepreneur and is responsible for Panjiva’s technical direction and product development. James worked for Intel Research, where he incorporated artificial intelligence techniques into his computer architecture work. James also conducted artificial intelligence research at Caltech and is published in the field of computer science. While serving as Panjiva’s technology lead, James is pursuing a doctoral work in large-scale parallel computer architectures in the Computer Science Department at MIT. James was recently a featured speaker at a Barclays Capital conference in New York and an Entrepreneurship conference at Microsoft. James holds a B.S., summa cum laude, in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University and an S.M. in Computer Science from MIT.

 

Min Xiao, Director of Corporate Pre-sales and Professional Services, Vertica, a HP company

Min graduated from the computer science department of University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2000, and started his career in Oracle New England's development team for six years. Following his passion of the challenging customer facing environment, Min made transition to Vertica, an HP company, as a pre-sales engineer and has been involved in multiple customer facing roles in the company. With his hard work and dedication, Min has become a key player in fostering Vertica's strong customer relationships and making the customers successful. Min is now Director of Corporate Pre-sales and Professional Services at Vertica. He manages a team supporting worldwide pre-sales operations and delivering proof of concepts (POC) for Vertica's major strategic accounts and is also responsible for world-wide professional services and training. Min is willing to share his experience of transiting from development to a customer facing position.

 

Adam Fuchs, CTO / Co-founder of sqrrl

Adam Fuchs is Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of sqrrl. Previously at the National Security Agency, Adam was an innovator and technical director for several analysis infrastructure projects, handling some of the world’s largest and most diverse data sets. He is a co-founder of the Apache Accumulo project. Adam has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Washington and has completed extensive graduate-level course work at the University of Maryland. In his spare time, Adam enjoys racing sailboats, trail running, and getting lost in the woods.

Nin Lei is an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Chief Technology Officer for Business Analytics in the System and Technology Group.  He is responsible for driving systems growth into the business analytics segment by advancing assets into business solutions that meet worldwide customer needs. He delivers valuable technical counsel to key business analytics leaders and executives on technical strategy, direction and projects, and provides leadership across the breadth of our development community on business analytics value propositions that improve our technical content in solutions, and assists in platform positioning for specific customer workloads.

He has built solutions for customers to address complex database problems, and his work has resulted in significant revenue to IBM.  He has built strong relationships with many large customers and he has worked closely with them to create operational and data warehouse systems.  He is a frequent speaker at conferences presenting data warehouse topics.  He has written many redbooks and technical papers on business intelligence.

Justin is Co-Founder and CEO of Hadapt.  Prior to Hadapt, Justin led product development for COVECTRA, an anti-counterfeit technology firm.  Before that, Justin founded an online social media company and spent the first six years of his career as a software developer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Raytheon.

Justin has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar, and attended graduate school at the Yale School of Management.

 

Julie Yoo, Co-founder / Chief Product Officer at Kyruus

Julie is a Co-Founder of Kyruus and serves as the company's Chief Product Officer. She was previously the VP of Clinical Product Strategy at Generation Health, where she oversaw the development of the company's clinical programs and data analytics platform. Julie also led the Product Management efforts at Knome, the private arm of George Church's Personal Genome Project, where she developed and launched a bioinformatics platform for conducting individualized genomic sequence analysis. Julie's passion for data-driven businesses began as a software engineer at Endeca Technologies, where she ultimately helped to lead Endeca's efforts in the health care industry as a Sales Engineer for Strategic Accounts. Julie has an undergraduate degree in computer science from MIT, an MS in biomedical sciences from the Harvard-MIT HST Program, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

 

Jennifer Lum, Co-founder of Adelphic Mobile

Jennifer Lum is an entrepreneur and angel investor with deep operating experience in early-stage and public companies.  Jennifer is a co-founder of Adelphic Mobile and Apricot Capital and she mentors startups at MIT, TechStars and 500 Startups.

 

Jennifer has focused on mobile marketing and advertising since 2005 and was a core team member of Quattro Wireless (acquired by Apple) and m-Qube (acquired by VeriSign).  Through Apple iAd and Quattro Wireless, Jennifer worked with the world's best brands and media companies to build two industry-leading premium mobile ad networks.
